Soundproof Rooms at the University of Central Lancashire
The university’s original rooms designed for music and recording were unsuitable as the sound being generated would transmit all over the new Media Factory building.
Amadeus tendered for the contract to supply 3 sound-proof, demountable Music Pods.
They arrived “flat-packed” from Boxylab in Italy, and the base and structure were created for all three rooms by the end of day one. Five days following arrival, three rooms had been installed and commissioned – an extremely rapid installation with every room acoustically treated with absorber panels, acoustic floating floor, acoustic doors and studios windows.
Each of the modular acoustic rooms is separated from the structure into which they are located, thus sound transmission is very low and there is absolutely no disruption to teachers or students across the Media Factory.
All three rooms are used for music and recording, confidential meetings and some 1-to-1 training.
Many thanks to University of Lancashire for featuring in our Case Study.
